Lawyer/Senior Associate – Energy
The Role

We are looking to recruit a junior-senior associate level commercial lawyer to work with James Bruining, Yvonne Jansen and the rest of the team in our Perth office on a wide variety of matters in the energy sector. The work includes drafting agreements, advising on regulatory issues, participating in negotiations and the full range of other support that clients in these sectors require.
You will work closely with Principals and other senior lawyers on matters involving:
- renewable power projects (wind, solar, battery and thermal);
- carbon capture and storage projects;
- wholesale and retail transactions in the NEM, WEM and NWIS;
- gas sales and purchases (wholesale and retail);
- off-shore and on-shore oil & gas projects, including acquisitions and divestments, field and infrastructure development, exploration, procurement and joint venture issues;
- gas pipelines and gas transportation services;
- climate change and renewables; and
- related commercial matters and advice.

Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will:
- be a qualified lawyer with a minimum 2 years practicing experience;
- have experience in the energy, natural resources or other commercial sectors - this may have involved working on key commercial agreements, providing regulatory advice, corporate transactional experience or as part of other specialist teams (eg, projects or construction);
- have strong drafting and advanced writing skills;
- have strong people skills that allow you to build rapport with clients and work in a boutique firm environment; and
- be smart and willing to learn.
